Apparently the board of libraries is responsible for authorizing and keeping track of name changes to state-owned property. This is why the state librarian is commenting on the dispute on a pond name change. It’s an old story but one that I came across in my Googling for town websites to help flesh out Wikipedia’s Vermont town pages.

I often wonder why they bother changing the names of places in New England.
“Framingstonburyshire” will now be known as “East Framingvillehamptonfield.” Please take note.
Maybe it’s because of the multiple state laws requiring roads to change names every 2 miles. With no signs. Or street lights.
I couldn’t get this link to work….
nuts! sorry about that, it’s fixed now.
