transparency of the process

I've said before that I think I got this last-minute invite because I'm a woman. That doesn't bug me too much as long as it's on the up and up, as long as no one pretends that I'm just the most "qualified" -- or whatever the criteria were -- and that first rejection was just another computer glitch, not a retracted rejection. In any case, the Dems are big on diversity, as you can see by this headline trumpeting "Almost Half Dem Delegates Are Minorities"

I'm good at math, let's see how this works out. 20.3 + 3.9 + 1.7 + 11.3 = 37.2. I guess you could call this "almost half", but I call it "over one third." I don't mean to start in with the nitpicking this early, but if the press had just said "Hey, way to go trying for diversity in the delegations!" and didn't try to make it into something it wasn't, people might feel like the press was being a bit more intellectually honest.

I hope to see the bloggers out there (at BOTH conventions) paying attention to the topics that get ignored by the newshandlers and arrangement specialists, out of a pathetic and trembling fear that something unscripted might happen.
